  1. The systematic development of the Raga is remarkable.Dr. Ritvik Sanyal of the Banaras Hindu University happens to be a disciple of the Dagar tradition of Dhrupad singing.I feel honoured to have studied certain topics of musicology under Dr. Sanyal at BHU when i was studying violin at m.mus level.

  2. What an wonderful rendition of Raga Desi in Dhrupad at its finest by Zia Mohiuddin Dagar and Fariduddin Dagar.

I would like to pay my personal tribute to the senior Dagar Brothers.

I was fortunate to meet late Padma Bhushan Ustad Nasir Aminuddin Dagar as we invited him to perform for us in a two-day Dhrupad Festival we organised on 21st and 22nd of November 1992. He was the star attraction of our Dhrupad Festival amongst other musicians including late Ustad Asad Ali Khan, the world renowned rudra veena player. I loved his vocal renditions.

This raga Desi is a superb rendition of Ustad Fariduddin Dagar Shaheb and also a superb rendition on Rudra Veena by the great master late Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar. Both are unique.

I have had the privilege and honour of meeting their brother Padma Bhushan late Ustad Nasir Aminuddin Dagar in 1992.

I would like to thank Pieter for a superb recordings and sharing these unique renditions with us.

I would be interested to have any pics you may have on the Senior Brothers: late Ustad Nasir Moinuddin & late Ustad Nasir Aminuddin Dagar Shaheb but I need them quite urgently.
